Essence Fest Attracts Crowds of Fans

The 15th Annual Essence Festival in New Orleans is going full speed ahead in New Orleans, Louisiana. Crowds of people of all ages-from toddlers to seniors–are everywhere. Beginning the morning of July 3rd groups of two and more fill the Morial Convention Center for seminars, interactive displays and book signings and in the evening make a mass exodus to the Superdome for multiple performances of favorite r&b, soul and hip hop artists. On Friday night Beyonce gave a no holds-barred high-energy music and dance display of her hits, beginning with her signature hit, “Crazy in Love.” Saturday night’s concert line-up featured the inimitable jazz-soul recording star, Anita Baker, emerging artist Jazmine Sullivan, returning crooner Robin Thicke and headliner Maxwell. More to come tonight with r&b and soul legends Al Green and Lionel Ritchie as well as comeback performances from the popular group, En Vogue, ending with the Essence Fest ever popular band, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.
