Beck and Palin Need to Stand in King’s Shoes

Perhaps Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin need to understand the reach of Martin Luther King’s historic call to civil rights and freedom for all Americans. Perhaps standing where he stood back in 1963 transfers some of the power of King’s words whch transcend time and even weak political campaigns. Truth knows no bounds and does not need Beck’s or Palin’s 21st century interpretations.
If they dare to quote King, then his words will once again ring true and compell all listeners to embrace civil rights and freedom for all. That would include embracing our president, Barack Obama, the first African American to ever hold the highest position in our government. Truly, he is the best example of King’s dream breaking through resistant barriers of hate and social inequality. And in his work Obama continues to promote and create programs that aid “the least of these” including health care and education reform and stimulus funds for jobs for all Americans.
King’s spirit lives on!! There is nothing that Beck, Palin and company can do to tarnish or appropriate it for their purposes. Dare they quote his words and stand in his shoes they may find themselves on the side of righteousness, and not Republican! King’s movement was a people’s movement. And Obama is the People’s president!!!
